Water coming from the tap is not the same everywhere. In some places, water may have a high concentration of minerals like calcium and magnesium. This kind of water is referred to as hard water. While hard water is safe to drink and even beneficial for your health, it can be a bit quite annoying as it tends to leave white stains on your windows. Here, replacement window experts Renewal by Andersen of Montana shares how to easily remove these pesky stains without the use of special cleaners.
1. Mix one part vinegar with one part of water in a large bucket.
2. Soak a clean, soft towel in the water-vinegar solution.
3. Take the soaked towel and wipe your casement windows in a circular motion. You may have to repeat this process several times to achieve the desired results.
4. Dry the window with a separate piece of dry cloth. At this point, it is also a good idea to shine your window using a cleaning product to make it extra sparkly.
If you are not a fan of having to clean your windows yourself, you can always invest in self-cleaning windows from Andersen. These special windows are treated with a thin coating of titanium dioxide that releases dirt from the glass when the sun shines on the coating. This way, you don’t have to worry about hard water stains as it reduces the spots by about 99%.
